The meeting by Celiarts The meeting by Celiarts
This drawing is my entry for the :icondisney-club: and :icondisney-fusion: crossover contest.

I draw Pocahontas and Tigerlily together, because I love Native American culture :D
I think they have a lot in common, they are proud and brave girls, and they probably could get along with one another. :)

( -Textures are from : [link]
- I also use a pack of brushes but I can't remember where it come from, if you are the owner please let me know and I'll give you the credits :) )

Thank you so much for all your nice comments and faves ! :iconlarryplz:

Am I the only freaking one who can see these wo as Mother and Daughter!?!? Seriously, native and the fact that hey look JUST alike, and add the fact that they're Disney owned......THIS IS EPIC!

That's interesting, Pocahontas was originally going to have a sidekick in the form a of Turkey named "Red Feather" and here Tigerlily has a red feather in her hair.

... boy am I a Disney Geek or what?
Celiarts Featured By Owner Jul 8, 2015   Digital Artist
Wow I didn't know that ! Interesting indeed :)

Pocahontas is a character that is a really good role model, but in some ways, that ends up working against her.  I do not think she could really grow as a character.  It looks like she should be treated as the mentor instead of a main heroine, it would play more to her strengths.  A lot of people think this is the worst film of the Disney Renaissance (although still not that bad, it sure beats what Don Bluth was doing around that time) and these people would probably more or less say that Disney was trying way too hard to get nominated for another Oscar for Best Picture (as Beauty and the Beast had).

At the other end of the Native American portrayal spectrum, we have Tiger Lily.  Thing is, I do not really hate her, it's just that Peter Pan was released before Brown V Board of Education and if black people were still acceptable targets back then, I would expect Native Americans to be even more so.  Seriously, listen to What makes the Red Man Red, it has every negative Native American stereotype outside of gambling and alcoholism.… Again, I don't hate the character, that is just how Native Americans were treated in 1953.  In fact, I would dare say Pocahontas was trying too hard to make up for that musical number.

In fact, I do not hate either of these characters.  I am just telling it the way it is.

that effect with the touching hands is almost magical, almost like Adam and the Lord touching fingertips in the Sistine Chapel ceiling

Fantastic work of art!

I love Native American culture too, becuase they are proud, good-natured and spiritual people connected with Nature. Its was a sad and sick history how Settlers killed most of the Natives, and claimed their land saw them as mere savages.

shows how subtle the changes have been in the anatomy of disney females through the years. drawing their fathers together however would be a whole different kettle of fish........

Thank you thank you THANK YOU for drawing these two~ I was WAITING for someone to connect them! Especially since they're both princesses and they almost always get left out of the princess groups. I absolutely adore this picture.
